Mich. Welfare Recipients Could Be Required to Do Community Service [VIDEO]

Legislation passed Wednesday by the Michigan Senate requires residents who receive government assistance to do community service. The bill now goes before the Michigan House of Representatives, and if passed there could go into effect by the end of the year.

Those in favor of the measure say it's a way for those on food stamps or other welfare programs to give back to the community that's helping them. Opponents say it's unfair to kick people when they're down.
