For the first time ever, health care prices are public in MA.

Anybody in the state of Massachusetts with private health insurance can go to their health insurance website and find out the prices of EVERYTHING...from a c-section to an MRI. However, there are some drawbacks:

1. Prices are not standard. They vary from one company to another.

2. Prices may not include everything, such as the price of a facility reading the test.

3. Prices can change within days.

I would LOVE for every state to do this, but it sounds like they need to work the kinks out. Then again, would you ever decline a potentially life-saving test based on the price?
