Oakland County Police are still looking for the suspect.

Halloween enthusiasts got more terror than they bargained for over the weekend at the famous Erebus Haunted House in Pontiac.

Police say that the victim cut in front of another person in line in front of the haunted attraction early on Sunday morning. The two men started to argue; the victim told his girlfriend that he was going to their car in a parking lot across the street. The man he was arguing with followed him, pulled out a gun, and fatally shot him.

This was the opening weekend for Erebus.

The four-story haunted house was first opened in 2000 and held the Guinness World Record for the largest walk-through haunted attraction in the world from 2005-2009. It also won the award for the #1 haunted house in the United States in 2010.

This is the first time at Erebus that a shooting has taken place.

“We had ample security out here,” owner Ed Terebus told Fox 2 Detroit. “We had cameras, crowd control and obviously heard the shots. Not knowing what was happening, we brought people in the building. Police were here within 2 minutes.”

“Communication is what it’s all about, it’s not worth it. If someone cuts in front of you in line, let us know and we’ll handle it and call the police. The Sheriff’s Office has been great and they came down immediately.”

The suspect is still at large. Police have described him as a tall, thin black man with a medium complexion, wearing an orange hoodie and jeans. If you have any information, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
