The Mighty Mac has been getting Michiganders across the Mackinac Straits since it first opened on November 1, 1957. Following three years of construction residents could simply drive across the nearly five-mile span instead of taking a ferry.

As fast as drivers can generally get across the Mackinac Bridge, delays are expected for the 2025 holiday season.

Construction Delays Prevent Mackinac Bridge From Fully Opening for Memorial Day

According to the Mackinac Bridge Authority, 'Cold, rainy weather early in the season has delayed completion of this year’s work to repave portions of the Mackinac Bridge and replace a modular joint, which will result in extended lane closures.'

While they had planned to have the bridge running at full capacity for the Memorial Day weekend, setbacks will only allow for one lane of travel in each direction over the bridge. With the heavy flow of holiday traffic, drivers should expect delayed travel time getting from one side of the bridge to the other.

Will The Mackinac Bridge be Fully Open for Fourth of July?

As of now, the Bridge Authority hopes to have construction completed on the bridge by the end of May or early in June.

This should allow the bridge to be up to full operation with all lanes open for both northbound and southbound travelers.

Mackinac Bridge Closes Completely on Labor Day

The annual Bridge Walk tradition continues this year with the bridge closing to all public vehicle traffic from 6:30 A.M. until 12 noon on Labor Day. Only emergency vehicles will have access if needed.

Inside the $5.9M Cedar-Clad 'Boardwalk Cottage' on Mackinac Island

This is everything you thought it would be - and more. If you have strolled the whimsical streets of Mackinac Island not far from downtown, you have surely seen the "Boardwalk Cottage". The unique cedar-clad home is a standout for its design and beauty, and it's no wonder considering who owns the home. The home was built in the 1980s by the McIntire family, the previous owners of The Hotel Iroquois on the island for over 65 years. Much like the hotel that they brought to a legendary stage, the 4200 square foot home is considered one the island's finest.

Inside the home, you will find three bedrooms, each with its own sitting area, walk-in closet, and private bath, each overlooking the Straits of Mackinac. The first-floor master suite will have you waking up with spectacular views of Lake Huron. The outside offers amazing space for entertaining and just taking in all the beauty the home is surrounded by.

Take a look inside.
