Northwestern University is defending its professor who facilitated a live sex demonstration as part of a human sexuality class.  Prof. John Michael Bailey's after-class demonstration was optional, and attended by about 100 of the approximately 600 students enrolled in the course.

According to the Chicago Sun Times, the university is defending Bailey:

“Northwestern University faculty members engage in teaching and research on a wide variety of topics, some of them controversial and at the leading edge of their respective disciplines,” said Alan K. Cubbage, vice president for University Relations. “The University supports the efforts of its faculty to further the advancement of knowledge.”

This video from the Fox affiliate in Chicago gives more details on the demonstration that has created the controversy.
