Lapeer Park Vandalized, Anyone With Information Asked To Come Forward
Another senseless act of vandalism has occurred in downtown Lapeer. You may recall over the holiday season, some idiot and or idiots cut Christmas lights from poles on Neppesing Street. Most recently, vandals have hit Lapeer Rotary Pocket Park.
According to The County Press, a custom granite bench in the park was split in half. Please note it was a granite bench. You know how hard it is to split granite? This had to be more than a two person job, or someone used some heavy equipment to split it.
There are no surveillance cameras in park area, but it appears the Lapeer DDA and Lapeer Police Department are looking into the possibility of camera installations. I am guessing that is not cheap, but I think it needs to be done. I don't know of another option, do you?
I just don't get it. Why in the hell do people get off on damaging property? Someone has to know something - and I hope whoever that person is comes forward. Anyone with information is asked to call the Lapeer Police Department, at (810) 664-0833.
I know these clowns will be caught, it is just a matter of when.
