Kroger shoppers across Michigan could soon see new ways to save at the grocery store. The company announced a new savings program as grocery prices continue to climb.

What is Kroger verified Savings?

The initiative, called Verified Savings, offers qualifying customers 20% off fresh fruits and vegetables, aiming to make healthier options more affordable during a time when many families are feeling stretched.

Discounts on Boost by Kroger Plus Memberships

Kroger is also offering half-off Boost by Kroger Plus memberships to customers receiving government assistance programs such as SNAP, WIC, and Medicaid.

With grocery bills still high across Michigan and the U.S., many shoppers are cutting back or hunting for deals. Kroger says the new program builds on its digital coupon and loyalty efforts while targeting customers most impacted by rising prices.

Kroger’s Michigan Footprint

The grocery giant operates more than 1,200 stores across 16 states, including about 122 locations in Michigan spread across dozens of communities. That makes Kroger the state’s second-largest grocery chain, behind Grand Rapids-based Meijer. Michigan accounts for nearly 10% of Kroger’s total U.S. store footprint.

Who Qualifies and How It Works

Kroger’s Verified Savings program is designed to target customers who could benefit most from extra discounts. While the company hasn’t released every detail, the program primarily focuses on helping shoppers save on fresh fruits and vegetables.

To receive 20% off fruits and vegetables, eligible customers simply need to have a Kroger digital account and enroll in Verified Savings. The discount is automatically applied to all fruit and vegetable purchases through January 31, 2026.

Kroger says the program is part of a broader push to make healthy foods more affordable, particularly as many Michigan households continue to face rising grocery prices.

The company says the program also supports broader efforts to expand food access and reduce barriers to healthy groceries.

"Making fresh food more affordable and equipping more customers with free grocery delivery is an incredible step in expanding food access," said Carlo Baldan, Kroger group vice president of Fresh Merchandising. "With the launch of the Verified Savings program, we are thrilled to make fruits and vegetables more affordable and eliminate one more barrier to food security in our mission to end hunger."
