Join The Hot Wheels Drive For Hurley Children’s Hospital In Flint

This is Children's Hospital Week, and Financial Plus Credit Union is shifting into high gear to help Hurley Children's Hospital.

Financial Plus kicked off their Hot Wheels Drive today for the kids at Hurley Children's Hospital. The goal is to make sure that every kid at Hurley will have a brand new Hot Wheels car to call their own.

I love that Financial Plus decided to do a Hot Wheels car drive. I know it seems like a small thing, but there's something about a matchbox car that just makes you happy.

I remember as a kid, my mom would let me pick out a Hot Wheels car at the end of our grocery shopping trip . . . if I was good during the trip. Needless to say I didn't have a huge collection of cars. The process of looking through all of the choices, and finding just the right one though was about as good as it gets for a kid.

I continue the tradition now with my own kids, even though they are getting a little old to be excited about a matchbox car. They still appreciate the symbolism of what it had meant to them as a little kid, so we always make sure to grab one every now and again.

The joy you can bring to a child going through an extremely tough time at Hurley Children's Hospital is immeasurable. If that tiny Hot Wheels car brings a smile to a kids face, even for just a few moments, it is more than worth it.

I encourage everyone to pick up a matchbox car the next time you're out, and bring it to any Financial Plus Credit Union location this week. Maybe grab an extra one as well for yourself. You'll be surprised at just how quickly it can bring a smile to your face.
