JC Penney & Macy’s to Close Dozens of Stores, Including Michigan Locations

Retailers JC Penney and Macy's have announced plans to close dozens of stores, including locations in Michigan. Penney plans to close 39 stores, which will mean layoffs for 2,250 people. 1,300 jobs will be eliminated when Macy's closes 14 stores in the spring.

Although JC Penney stores in Flint, Burton, and Owosso will be spared, CBS reports that its location in Adrian Michigan is slated to close. The Macy's at Genesee Valley Center will remain open, while reports say the Northland Center store in Southfield will close.
