Irish Road Railroad Crossing Closure Coming to Davison Township

Well, it’s not quite winter yet in Genesee County, which means we’re still getting those pop-up construction projects that can last an afternoon, a week or two, or seemingly forever. Now, drivers in Davison Township have another one to deal with.

Irish Road Closure Coming to Davison Township

Irish Road will be completely closed between Court Street and Davison Road starting Wednesday, August 26, while crews make repairs to a railroad crossing.

The closure is expected to remain in place through Saturday, September 5, meaning drivers will be dealing with the detour for more than a week, including the Labor Day holiday weekend.

And if Irish Road is part of your normal commute, you’ll want to plan ahead. MLive reports that drivers will be directed around the closure using Court Street, Gale Road and Davison Road. So, if Irish Road is normally your shortcut through that part of Davison Township, expect the trip to take a little longer.

This is also another reminder that railroad crossing repairs can sometimes take longer than anyone would like. Genesee County has dealt with some lengthy railroad-related closures recently, so hopefully this one sticks to the current schedule.

Construction Spotlight Shifts to Davison Township

The timing comes less than a week after another major Genesee County traffic headache finally ended. The roundabout at Baldwin and Fenton roads reopened last weekend, bringing traffic back to normal in the southern part of the county after months of construction.

So, if Irish Road is part of your daily drive, you’ve got a little time to find another route. Pack some patience, leave a few extra minutes early, and maybe try not to swear too much when you hit the detour.
