Health Advisor Recommends Masks For Flint Schools
The new Delta variant of COVID-19 is gaining a lot of attention and for all the wrong reasons, and now with the variant touching down in Genesee County doctors are more than nervous about a potential outbreak.
With schools getting ready to open back up in a few weeks local medical experts are urging Flint residents and students to wear masks inside Flint schools.
Epidemiologist Dr. Debra Furr-Holden has been working with Flint Community Schools for over a year with other local health professionals helping the district navigate the pandemic. She believes students, staff and teachers should all wear masks—no matter their vaccination status.
"Even if you're vaccinated because the mask is also protecting the children from you so a vaccinated adult who is in the classroom or school with unvaccinated 8 or 9-year-old that child is still at risk so the mask is also to protect them from you," said Debra.
The fight isn't over people. It looks like we still have a long road ahead of us with this pandemic. Now, I can understand the frustration that comes with this news and how we all lost so much time with 2020 pretty much being a sit-at-home year. We cannot let that trick us into making bad/lazy decisions.
If our own local medical experts are making suggestions on what we should do, then we should listen. Instead of listening to Facebook.
