Grand Blanc Favorite Laurie’s Children’s Wear Moving from Downtown After 58 Years
A fixture in downtown Grand Blanc for 58 years, Laurie's Children's Wear is about to make the move to a new location leaving a void in the downtown landscape residents of come accustomed to.
From baptism, communions, and special events, Laurie's Children's Wear has been the go-to place for kids' clothes not only for Grand Blanc residents but the entire area for years. If you need something special for your child to wear, Laurie's is the place. From the original little house that sat on S. Saginaw Street for years to the modern building sitting just behind, pretty much everyone has shopped Laurie's at one time or another it seems.
After being located downtown for 58 years, Laurie's is changing locations, yet still staying in Grand Blanc. They announced on Facebook that they would be moving to a new location in June. The new spot will be located at 3023 E. Grand Blanc Rd, next to SweetWater Grill. The last day at the original location was May 21st.
Originally opened as Laurie's Infant & Children's Wear of Grand Blanc in 1964, the store was owned by Lourice "Laurie" Beers. Later the business became known as Laurie's and Timothy's Children Fashions. Beers son Tim joined the operations of the business and has been at the helm since his mother's passing in 2007.
As to what will become of the vacant space on S. Saginaw Street, there's no official word on plans. The good thing is, that more generations will have the chance to shop for those special occasions at Laurie's.
