Grand Blanc Man is Getting a Second Chance on ‘Jeopardy’

A Mott Community College professor from Grand Blanc is getting a second chance at becoming a 'Jeopardy!' champion next week.

Aaron Gulyas competed on the iconic game show in May. He actually had a slight lead over the other two contestants going into the show's final round, Final Jeopardy. But in the end the Mott professor got the last question wrong, acquiescing to Ryan Long who had been the Jeopardy champ for a full 10 days prior to Gulyas' appearance.

A Second Chance on Jeopardy

Jeopardy's second-chance tournament is a new addition to the game show as it continues to shake things up during its 39th season. The show will bring back 18 contestants who did well when they appeared on the show but didn't become Jeopardy champions.

The second chance tournament will run for two weeks. TV Insider explains that on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, nine returning contestants will compete in regular games. The winners from each of those nights will face off in a tournament-style competition Thursday and Friday to find one winner who will head to the Tournament of Champions.

Grand Blanc's Aaron Gulyas will compete on the first night of the Second Chance Tournament, this Monday, October 17.

Lifelong Fan of Jeopardy

Gulyas says he's always been a fan of the show, making it to the audition phase three times over the last 13 years.

“It has been a lifetime dream of mine,” Gulyas said. “I have always wanted to be on game shows, even as a little kid. As a big trivia person, I wanted to see how well I would do actually on the set versus in my living room – because I’m pretty good in my living room!”
