It should go without saying but, when we don't say it, somebody says that they didn't know.

Memorial Day weekend is traditionally the first "go up north" holiday for Michiganders, whether people are going to their cabins or up to Mackinac. This year, though, things are a bit different. Ferries to the island are not running this weekend due to COVID-19 and camping at a lot of state and national parks is being postponed.

And yet, another wrench has been thrown into the mix - the historic flooding in Midland County. With over 11,000 people evacuated, there are quite a few roads that are, well, GONE or flooded.

Please plan your trip ahead of time with the following closings in mind - the people of Midland County don't need more problems than they already have this weekend.

  • M-13 at Cass River in Saginaw Co.
  • M-46 between M-47 and River Road in Saginaw Co.
  • Both north and southbound M-30 between Curtis and Dale in Gladwin Co.
  • M-52 over S. Br. Bad River in Saginaw Co.
  • US-127BR at Pine River in Alma-Gratiot Co.
  • Exit 158 from SB US-127 to US-10 East in Clare Co.
  • WB US-10 between US-10BR to M-30 in Midland Co.

All of these closures are as of yesterday afternoon. US-23 in Omer is also closed over the Rifle River; it won't re-open until next week.

And, in case you weren't aware, the state of Michigan has an interactive map that you can use for reference with up-to-date closings and information, which you can find HERE.
