Genesee Co. Animal Control Officers May Be Allowed to Carry Guns
The county's Board of Commissioners has been asked to approve the request to provide guns and training for animal control officers.
Animal Control Director Paul Wallace sent a memo to the board, saying that uniformed animal control officers are often faced with threats from angry pet owners that sometimes include firearms.
Officers are required to investigate cases of possible animal cruelty, neglect and kennel inspections, which can receive an "emotional response" from pet owners.dangerous Other dangerous situations can arise from those involved in dog fighting. Last summer, animal control officers had guns pulled on them three times.
Can't say that I disagree with this. What do you think?
