With a major food truck festival canceled due to COVID, Frankenmuth has come up with other plans for this year.

Everyone loves a good food truck festival! Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has thrown a wrench into a lot of festivals like that, including the Frankenmuth Funtown Chowdown Food Truck Festival that was planned this year. So organizers have decided to plan some smaller events instead. Funtown Takeout Food Truck Pop-up events start this weekend.

The new pop-up events will be small than usual this year and take place at the Frankenmuth River Place Shops. Customers will be encouraged to take their food home as there will be limited entertainment and activities and no seating space.

We worked with the Saginaw County Health Department to ensure these pop-ups can take place while encouraging our guests to respect social distancing and to bring a mask with them...People are already excited about the pop-ups, and so are our food truck partners — it has been a long few months without seeing them and we are very excited to once again host them at River Place Shops...says Jessica Haynes, Marketing and Events Director for Frankenmuth River Place Shop.

I love food trucks and am happy to see that they are doing this! I'm looking forward to heading to Frankenmuth in the upcoming weeks to check it out. These pop-up events are going to take place ever Friday and Saturday from now until October 10th and running from noon until 8 pm each day. All the trucks will be parked east of the outdoor shopping complex.
