Evan Peters is going for "gold" this week, and it has nothing to do with the Olympics and everything to do with one of his most challenging acting roles ever.

It was a big night for Evan Peters back in 2021 when he took home an Emmy for "Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie" for his role as Detective Colin Zabel in HBO's Mare of Easttown. Now, he's stepping it up as he's poised to win his first Golden Globe for his haunting role in Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.

Peters stars in the Netflix series from Ian Brennan and Ryan Murphy which joined Stranger Things Season 4 and Squid Games in December by surpassing the billion-hour mark in viewing time, making it one of the most-watched series on Netflix. His portrayal of the infamous serial killer earned him rave reviews for his performance and eerie transformation, so much so that the 35-year-old actor is nominated for a Golden Globe.

The actor is a solid favorite to take home the "Best Actor - Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Television Motion Picture" award at the 80th Golden Globe Awards on Tuesday, December 10th. This is the first Golden Globe nomination for the actor who made his mark with his role in the popular FX anthology series American Horror Story.

Evan Peters's Connection to Michigan

Evan's connection to Grand Blanc comes from his father's job as Vice President of Administration for the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation which brought the family to Grand Blanc in 2001. Then the actor was a freshman at Grand Blanc High School with a passion for modeling and acting at the time. He even did some modeling for Avante in Flint and took acting classes at Flint Youth Theatre.

Peters ended up moving to Los Angeles when he was 15 with his mother to pursue his acting career. Always a huge supporter of her son, Evan's mom Julie was by her son's side when he won his Emmy last year. We have no doubt she will be close by as he goes for "gold" this week.
