Former Grand Blanc Student, Actor Evan Peters Wins First Emmy

It was one big, big night for Evan Peters. You could tell by his expression, he was in disbelief. Peters had won his first Emmy.

The 34 year old actor took home the coveted gold trophy last night for "Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie" for his role as Detective Colin Zabel in HBO's Mare of Easttown during Sunday night's 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards. He humbly accepted his first major award thanking his high profile co-star Kate Winslet simply for "being Kate Winslet."  Although Peters made his acting debut in 2004 in the film Clipping Adam, most will associate him with his breakout performances in American Horror Story on FX as well as the network’s show Pose.

The Michigan Connection

Peters was actually born in St. Louis, Missouri, his father's job as Vice President of Administration for the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation brought the family to Grand Blanc in 2001. Peters was a freshman at Grand Blanc High School with a passion for modeling and acting at the time. He even did some modeling for Avante in Flint, and  took acting classes at Flint Youth Theatre.

By his sophomore year in high school, Peters pursued his dream heading to California with his mother Julie along to watch over him. He was quick to sign with a manager and an agent, and began auditions. In his first year out in Hollywood, Peters scored a movie, a commercial for Sony PlayStation, Kellogg, and several episodes on the show Phil of the Future. The rest they say, is history.
