New Video: Flint Suspect Drags Deputies During Shocking Meijer Escape
Police have released some truly stunning surveillance video showing a suspected shoplifter from Flint fleeing from Bay County sheriff’s deputies outside the Meijer store near Bay City earlier this month. And honestly, it is hard to believe what this footage shows.
Chaos in the Meijer Parking Lot
Investigators say the suspect, a 45-year-old man, was accused of shoplifting on November 2 when things escalated far beyond a simple retail theft.

The video, taken from a camera mounted on the store’s roof, shows the man bolting toward his car as two Bay County deputies sprint after him. What happens next is something you expect in a movie, not a Meijer parking lot on a Saturday.

As the deputies reached the vehicle and attempted to pull the man out, he suddenly hit the gas. Both deputies were dragged a short distance before the suspect crashed into a parked vehicle and even ran over a stop sign while desperately trying to get away. Despite all of that, he managed to escape the scene that day. But that wasn’t the end of it.
The Suspect Surfaces Again
According to police, the same suspect surfaced again last week. This time he was accused of leading officers on a wild chase through Ogemaw County in a stolen pickup truck. That pursuit crossed multiple county lines and finally ended in Gladwin County when the suspect crashed the vehicle and was taken into custody.
Charges Still Pending
Authorities have not released his name yet, as he has not appeared in Bay County District Court for arraignment on charges related to the chaotic Meijer incident. But with two high-profile run-ins with law enforcement in less than two weeks, those charges are likely to stack up quickly.
