This is where it all started for rocker Mark Farner. The Flint legend is coming home for one show only at the newly-restored Capitol Theatre in downtown Flint.

Farner's roots run deeper than his homegrown group Grand Funk Railroad. He played with Terry Knight and the Pack as a teenager and tapped Knight to become the Railroad's band manager.

In 1969, Farner formed Grand Funk Railroad with Don Brewer (drums) and Mel Schacher (bass guitar) and enjoyed great success through the 70s with iconic hits like Some Kind of Wonderful, I'm Your Captain, Bad Time and more Craig Frost joined as the band's keyboard player in 1973.

I had an opportunity to sit down with Farner this morning at the historic Capitol Theatre, where Mark Farner's American Band will perform on April 19. (Video below)

Tickets for the show go on sale this Friday (2/22) at the Whiting Box Office or TheWhiting.com.
