Flint Community Schools Will Have a Balanced Calendar Next Year
Before everybody freaks out, YES THEY STILL GET A SUMMER VACATION.
It's just about a month shorter than before.
It was announced last night at the Flint Community School board meeting that the schools will go to a "balanced calendar" in the 2019-2020 school year.
Here's the low-down: kids will go to school for a straight 45 days and then get a 10-day break. The school year will end in mid-June and start up in early August.
Before people get their knickers in a wad, know that Freeman Elementary in Flint was the prototype for this. They had a balanced calendar in 2017-18...and 50% of reading and math scores went UP.
