Marc Hadden said that they had no time to prepare for the birth. "Gracie came right out."

Back in 2011, he and his fellow Myrtle Beach firefighters were sitting down to eat after a slow day when the call came in - a woman was complaining of severe abdominal pain.

When they arrived, they realized that she was in labor. They think that the woman was most likely homeless. She gave birth quickly, and the baby girl was handed to Marc. She and her mother were brought to the hospital, where he learned that she planned on putting her up for adoption. He felt like this was a sign - he and his wife had talked about having a third child, and had already considered adoption. So they started the process.

More than five years later, Gracie is in school and gymnastics, and she loves her two big brothers.
