Fire departments from Flint Township, Mount Morris Township, Burton, Grand Blanc, Swartz Creek, and Mundy Township all responded to a fire that destroyed the Long John Silver's building on Linden Road.

Earlier this morning, police shut down Linden Road between Miller and Bristol while fire crews from all over the county battled the fire that completely destroyed Long John Silver's in Flint Township.

The fire happened just before 5 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 28. The Flint Township fire chief told TV5 that flames were seen in the back of the structure when crews first arrived, and they had to wait for help.

At one point, while fire crews were battling the fire, the roof completely collapsed. Luckily no one was in the building when the fire broke out or when it collapsed.

Long John Silver's on Linden Road in Flint Township was the last remaining LJS restaurant in Genesee County. If you remember, the Long John Silver's on Pierson Road in Mount Morris Township was also destroyed by a fire back in 2019. That fire also happened in February.

No word yet if the owners plan to rebuild the building or not. I'm going to assume they won't rebuild and it will become an eyesore for Flint Township residents for some time.

I literally drove by Long John Silver's there on Linden Road last week thinking to myself that I need to stop in for some fish and hush puppies. I've always loved the food at Long John Silver's but hadn't been there in years.
