Ferndale Marching Band Brings ASL to Halftime Show – The Good News
And you can see them perform it LIVE this weekend at Ford Field at the state championships.
The show is called The Sounds of Silence and, about halfway through, the students stop playing their instruments and perform Watch These Hands through American sign language. The song was originally performed by a deaf hip hop artist named Sean Forbes.
The band started learning ASL during band camp in August. Their performance also includes a digital sign that interprets the ASL for those who aren't familiar with it.
They'll be performing at Ford Field at the Michigan Competing Band Assocation's state championships this Saturday at 8 PM. For more info and ticket prices, click HERE.
Bravo, Ferndale! And a big thanks to our son's private percussion teacher, Matthew Dudek, for all the pics and video.
