A family is now trying to decide whether or not they should keep their cat, after it attacked their 7-month-old baby and forced them to lock themselves in a bedroom. The Portland, Oregon family had to call 911, and wait for police to crate the 22-pound animal.

Lee Palmer said their longtime family pet named Lux had lunged at the baby, scratching its face. He spanked the cat to get it away from the boy, which apparently sent the animal over the edge. The family of three and their dog were forced to take refuge in a bedroom.

"He's trying to attack us," he told KPTV. "He's very, very, very, very hostile."

Police officers used a dog snare to trap the cat.

"It's only funny when it's not happening to you," Palmer's girlfriend Teresa Barker said with a laugh. "When this happens to you, I assure you, you will do the same thing."

What would you do? If your pet attacked a family member, and forced you to seek shelter, would you keep the animal, or decide otherwise?
