Police Respond to Early Morning Grand Blanc Gunfire

An elderly woman from the Flint area is currently under evaluation after she fired a gun inside her home located in the Warwick Hills subdivision in Grand Blanc Township.

Local police responded to reports of shots fired on Oakmont Street at 6:13 a.m. After drones were deployed and police assessed the situation, they determined that an elderly woman was not a victim — but the shooter.

Drones Deployed over Grand Blanc Township to Secure the Scene

A statement from the indicates Grand Blanc Township Police Department, law enforcement secured the location, established a perimeter, and deployed drones for an aerial view of the investigation scene.

Police also said, 'To ensure the safety of all involved and thoroughly assess the situation, the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office deployed a drone to assist in clearing the residence. After careful search and evaluation, it was confirmed that there was no ongoing threat to the occupants or the surrounding neighborhood.'

Shooter Identified as Elderly Woman

Once everything was cleared by local police, investigators discovered that an elderly woman was the one who pulled the trigger.

Investigators with the Grand Blanc Police Department said that the unidentified woman appeared to be 'suffering from age-related cognitive issues'. No one was injured during the incident, but the 'elderly individual was safely transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation.'

Multiple Mid-Michigan Agencies Assist in Grand Blanc Township Response

According to police reports, the Grand Blanc Police Department had some help from the Grand Blanc City Police Department as well as the Genesee County Sheriff's Office. The police also said that no criminal activity is suspected as of now.
