Halloween is going to the dogs.

The 11th annual Howl-oween dog costume contest is happening Sunday, October 10th at Bicentennial Park in Grand Blanc. For just $5 you can enter your dog in two contests of your choosing. Categories are as follow,

  • Puppy
  • Senior Dog
  • Kid/Dog Combo (this category will be broken down by age groups)
  • Most Creative Costume
  • Best Homemade Costume
  • Best Owner/Dog Combo (individual and group)
  • Crowd Favorite
  • Best Overall Costume

I think my favorite category is Best Owner/Dog Combo. How cute is that? You and your pooch can do a fun theme costume together! How about some of these famous duos,

  • Axl Rose and Slash
  • Bonnie and Clyde
  • Ketchup and Mustard
  • Snoop Dogg and Weed
  • Peanut Butter and Jelly
  • Rum and Coke
  • Thing 1 and Thing 2
  • Mac and Cheese

You can document the day with a professional photo courtesy of Kara Pattison Photography for a donation. Each participating pup will also receive a treat bag. If you are able to do so, please bring dog or cat food as donations will be collected for local animal groups.

Registration begins at 1:30 PM, with the contests beginning at 2:00 PM. There will also be a special blessing of the dogs at 1:45 PM. Bicentennial Park is located at 1505 East Grand Blanc Road in Grand Blanc.

I unfortunately do not have a dog of my own to take, but I am going to see if I can borrow one for the day. Keep your eyes peeled on October 10th for Tequila Sunrise (of course I am tequila and sunrise will be the lucky dog that I take).
