You may have to wait a little longer for a ride as cuts to Flint’s Mass Transportation Authority begin today.

WNEM says the cuts will effect both daytime and evening riders. On Mondays through Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. the daytime bus routes will only run one bus per route, instead of the two they do now. Evening services for regular routes will now end at 6:30 p.m. compared to the current 9:30 p.m. However, late riders can still sign up for a prearranged ride service called “Your Ride.”

The MTA will also be cutting seven staff positions and say all of these cuts stem from this year’s brutal winter. They hope to restore the daytime and evening service later this year.
