Good grief, we can use all of the good news that we can get right now.

Officer John-Paul Dorais and his partner, Officer Jeff Witkin of the Meriden Police Department in Connecticut decided to take it upon themselves to pay for a hotel room at the Comfort Inn & Suites for a homeless woman that they found sleeping in a shed over the weekend.

“I sympathized with her,” Dorais told The Huffington Post. “She was well-educated, well-spoken, she was just going through a really difficult time.”

Officer Witkin snapped a picture of his partner paying for the room, and Dorais didn't even know it was on social media until his sister called him and asked him if he had paid for a hotel room. “Police officers do tons of great things that people don’t know about all the time,” Dorais said. “I’ve seen officers do bigger and better things than what we did. Really it was small in comparison.”

He didn't have to do it, but he did. And what a wonderful thing to do. :)
