Commemorate ‘Patriot Day’ by Donating Blood with the American Red Cross
Each year 9/11 is designated 'Patriot Day', by the President who encourages citizens to find and volunteer for service opportunities. The Red Cross hopes you'll give by donating blood
The Red Cross is encouraging residents to celebrate the American spirit by donating blood and platelets between now and September 14. Jim Flickema, CEO of the Great Lakes Blood Services Region for the Red Cross, said this is a great opportunity for our donors and sponsors to give back to their communities and help replenish the blood supply following challenging summer months." Flickema says summer is always the toughest time to ensure the blood supply as donors become busy with summer activities.
Everyone who comes out to donate at an American Red Cross blood drive this week will receive a special gift along with a good feeling knowing they may have saved up to three lives with their donation.
