Cars 108 Roof Sit 2018 for Whaley Children’s Center – A Recap [VIDEOS]
We raised more than $27,000, beating out our goal by more than $2K, and we couldn't have done it without YOU.
Roof Sit 2018 for the Whaley Children's Center was a HUGE success, and it was definitely a marathon, not a sprint. Whaley is at capacity right now; it's expensive enough to send one or two kids back to school. Now, imagine sending 42 kids. Your generosity is what made this possible.
So, we broadcasted live from the roof of the McDonald's in Grand Blanc for three days.
Day one, we realized that the weather was going to cooperate significantly better than last year (rain and storms) and the year before (blistering heat). Lots of setting up (yes, Mindy and Pat actually slept on the roof), and we got to talk to Mary Ann from Sawyer Jewelers. We ended the day with $5,500 in donations.
Day two was started with a hot air balloon and the rousing sounds of The Lion King. We had quite a few guests stop over (or should I say, 'up') including our sponsors, Tri-County Roofing, Christenson & Fiederlein and more. We wrapped up day two with Family Fun Night, complete with a bounce house from Karterz World LLC, chicken nugget cornhole and lots of free ticket giveaways. The day wrapped up with about $15,000 in donations total.
Annnnnd the panic started to set in - we were $10,000 short of our $25,000 goal as of 6 AM on Friday morning. Ironically, we were in the same boat the year before, but we had a much smaller goal. So, we hustled. And the community hustled. And we beat our goal by more than $2,000!
Couldn't thank everybody enough - you all made this possible. THANK YOU! See you on the roof next year!
