Chicken for Breakfast? McDonald’s Rolls Out 2 New Items in Michigan
Here’s an idea that has legs — or should we say wings? McDonald’s is bringing two chicken-for-breakfast items back to Michigan.
A Michigan-Only Morning Experiment
The McChicken Biscuit and Chicken McGriddle are landing on breakfast menus once again, but only for a limited time. Now through July 21, they’ll be available exclusively at participating Michigan locations as the fast-food giant tests local appetite for crispy chicken in the morning.
McDonald’s has flirted with these sandwiches before. Both items first rolled out nationwide back in early 2020 — but fans may recall the McChicken Biscuit goes back even further. Around 2008, a nearly identical sandwich was marketed as the Southern Style Chicken Biscuit.
Flint Got to Taste it First
And if you live in Flint, this probably feels familiar. In June of last year, Flint-area McDonald’s were among the first to quietly serve these sandwiches again after successful test runs in places like Florida, Ohio, Kansas, and parts of Canada. That small rollout later expanded across the Mitten.
What’s in the Chicken Breakfast Lineup?
Here’s a quick breakdown of what’s on the menu:
McChicken Biscuit – A crispy chicken patty served on a warm, flaky biscuit. It’s a straightforward option with a savory, Southern-inspired twist.
Chicken McGriddle – The same chicken patty, sandwiched between two maple-flavored griddle cakes, combining sweet and salty in each bite.
Both items are part of McDonald’s limited-time “Chicken for Breakfast” offering, and are only available in Michigan through July 21. Availability may vary by location.
I could eat chicken three meals a day, so I'm definitely on board.
