After a jubilant celebration last night in Oakland, the Detroit Tigers will board an airplane and head for the Big Apple as they will face the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series tomorrow night at 8.

Both the Tigers and Yankees had to struggle to get to the ALCS, the Tigers beating the Oakland A's in five games, while the Yankees had to battle the Baltimore Orioles through five close games.

The Tigers have beaten the Yankees in the postseason in their last two encounters.  Both teams needed to throw their best pitcher (Verlander, Sabbathia) in game five of the Division Series this year, so both will have to rely on their second or third best pitchers to start game 1 of the ALCS.  That should be Doug Fister for the Tigers, the Yankees have not yet named a starter for tomorrow night's game.

The game will be televised on TBS.  Check your local listings.  Go Tigers!
