I'm what you would call a boat guy, I have owned a few over the years, not once did I ever consider naming a boat Titanic, I'm a little superstitious.

Though the name Titanic has a bad reputation in the shipping world, boat owner Mark Wilkinson decided to test fate and name his own ship after the massive vessel anyway. Unfortunately for Wilkinson, fate won and Titanic II sunk on its maiden voyage. Take the jump and read the rest of the story.

The Birmingham, UK resident was left clinging to the side of the boat as it sunk under the water until the harbor master rescued him. The 40-year-old has since had to endure a non-ending stream of Titanic jokes.

Titanic II sunk due to a 6-inch hole — not caused by an iceberg — in the hull.

Sad news all around, though we’re guessing it probably wasn’t as sad as that other thing named ‘Titanic II.’
