Blood Supply Hits Critical Lows
Due to wintry weather and canceled blood drives, the American Red Cross has issued an urgent appeal to donors with type O-negative and B-negative blood. In the Great Lakes Region, approximately 700 units of blood are needed every day to meet the needs of 60 hospitals across Michigan. All blood types are needed, but type O-negative is in high demand because it can be transfused to patients with any blood type, especially in emergencies.
