Like most miracle families, the Campbells never expected to "need" the services at Hurley Children's Hospital.

But, as we've seen over the last two days, most families never think that it will happen to them...until it does.

Megan and Andy Campbell live in Davison with their son, Hudson. They have three other children as well - Finley Jo, Isabel, and Carter. In fact, Megan was pregnant with Finley Jo when the unthinkable happened.

On September 22nd, 2018, Hudson suffered a massive head injury when a 2-inch solid steel bar on a trailer ramp crushed his skull. He was transported to Hurley Children’s Hospital, the ONLY level 2 pediatric emergency department in the region.

Hudson's neurosurgeon, Dr. Khan, said that putting Hudson's skull back together was like a "jigsaw puzzle." It was a five-hour surgery that included screws and brackets. Afterward, Hudson was in the pediatric ICU for six days.

”It seemed like everyone in the hospital was there for him,” said Andy. “To look back and understand that everyone stops for your child; everything they do was for him.”

“I’ve never met more amazing people in my whole life,” said Megan.

”It’s very easy to overlook and presume that we’ll never need these organizations,” said Andy.
