Area Women to Appear on ‘Dr. Phil’ Show to Discuss Parenting Special-Needs Children
Two Flint-area single moms, each with special-needs children, are expected to appear on upcoming episodes of the 'Dr. Phil' Show.
Sain initially reached out to the show because she faces the possibility of being forced to relinquish her parental rights in order to get long-term treatment for her son.
Lisa Sain tells Cars 108 she's scheduled to appear on the show on Tuesday, September 16th. The Davison woman, whose 14-year-old son Preston lives in a residential care facility for autistic children, has long been an advocate for parents with special-needs children. Sain initially reached out to the show because she faces the possibility of being forced to relinquish her parental rights in order to get long-term treatment for her son.
Sain's appearance will reportedly be a follow-up to the show that will precede it on September 15th. Dr. Phil McGraw is scheduled to speak with Kelli Stapleton, the Michigan woman who last week pleaded guilty to charges that she attempted to kill her autistic teenage daughter. The 46-year-old woman faces the possibility of life behind bars.
Amie Carter, a Burton woman whose son Jayden also suffers from autism, is slated for an upcoming episode of the Dr. Phil show, which begins its 13th season Tuesday. (9/9) The exact air date of Carter's appearance is not yet available.
Both women are tight-lipped about the contents of the shows, as they are contractually prohibited from discussing with the media the details of what took place when the shows were taped. Carter's only comment when I asked her about her experience was, "It really didn't go very well."
The 'Dr. Phil' Show airs locally on WNEM TV-5 weekdays at 4pm.
