Looking for parades, runs and remembrance ceremonies around our area? Look no further!

There's quite a few events in Genesee County to honor our fallen heroes this Memorial Day. If you're looking for a way to pay your respects while enjoying the unofficial kickoff to summer, here's what's happening. *all events take place on Monday, May 30th unless otherwise noted*

Flint

A ceremony that will honor military members begins at 9:30 AM at McFarlan Veteran Memorial Park at North Saginaw and MLK Jr. Boulevard.

There's also a Memorial Day gathering for military members and their families at 2 PM, 4344 N. Genesee Road with food, music and bounce houses. Please RSVP at 810-931-3978.

Burton

The Burton Memorial Day 5K Run/Walk begins at 9 AM in front of Atherton High School, 3354 S. Genesee Road. You can register at Complete Runner on Sunday between 12 and 5 PM, or on the morning of the event. Come run with me, I'll be there!

The parade starts at 2 PM on Center Road between Atherton and Bristol, and will move towards Burton City Hall, where the family fun continues from 4-7 PM. Bounce houses, face painting, a petting zoo and music by The SauceCats will be provided. Food will be on sale to benefit the VFW. Fireworks begin at dusk, with a candlelight vigil at 9:15 PM.

Holly

The 11th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony begins at 11 AM at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road. A wreath ceremony and rifle salute, along with music and a benediction will take place.
