The TV show Dallas debuted in 1978 as a miniseries.  Due to it's popularity it became one of the longest running prime time drama series in TV history.  But the story didn't end in 1991, it continues tonight on TNT!

The original show revolved around the Ewings, a wealthy Texas family in the oil and cattle-ranching industries.  The new series picks up where the first left off, simply twenty years later.

It's hard to revive a series and make it a success, but I think this one will do well.  Many of the original characters will reprise their roles in the new series, including Patrick Duffy and J.R. himself, Larry Hagman!

They've even done a great job with the opening sequence which is obviously different, but maintains the essence of the original intro with the same (but updated) music and video layout.  Compare the old intro to the new version below.  Also check out the extended trailer that began airing on TNT last year.

An interesting side note, many actors, including Brad Pitt broke into the industry via Dallas.  Watch Brad's acting debut below as well.  Catch all-new episode of Dallas starting tonight at 9 on TNT!
