She passed away at her home in Inkster, peacefully, and lived by the motto, "Treat people how you want to be treated."

Jeralean Talley was born in Georgia in 1899 and moved to Michigan in the 1930s. Her husband of 52 years, Alfred Talley, died in 1988. They are both survived by one child and three generations of grandchildren.

When asked what the secret is to a long life, Jeralean didn't have any words of wisdom. In fact, she spoke the truest words I've ever heard about life expectancy: "There's nothing I can do about it."

She passed away peacefully (which was her only wish) at her home in Inkster at the age of 116.

Ain't that the truth! Rest in peace, Jeralean! You deserve it.
