Winter Might Take Longer to Arrive in Michigan This Year
Depending on your seasonal preferences, this will be either a good or a bad thing.
Now that we are well into November, meteorologists around the mitten state are starting to get a clearer look at what winter might look like, and it looks like...it won't be here for a while.
The most current weather models show that December in Michigan will likely be about 2-4 degrees warmer than normal; we could continue to see highs throughout the rest of the year between 35 and 45 degrees.
So, according to MLive Meteorologist Mark Torragrossa, it will likely be warm...but not that warm. We're not talking "get a tan and reopen your pool" warm, but warmer than the normal average temperatures.
The European model for forecasting, which is typically pretty accurate, shows Michigan being 10 degrees above normal temps in December. And, while mornings will be cool (as they always are this time of the year), daytime temperatures won't be very cold.
There's also not much snow forecasted through the end of the year.
Listen, I'm a winter hater. I'm not proud of it, but I hate it. One thing we've consistently said since we moved to southeastern Michigan is that the winters here aren't that bad. We don't usually see the freezing temps and heavy snow until the first three months of the year.
So, will this year be any different? It doesn't look like it. Is that okay with me? Absolutely. I'm a fan of taking down my Christmas decorations when it's 40 degrees outside.
