WARNING: Counterfeit ‘Movie Money’ Being Used in Genesee County
It's like buying a life jacket that was used on the set of Titanic, and then trying to use it when your real boat is sinking.
There's been an uptick in the amount of counterfeit $100 bills that have been used at local businesses. They're actually pretty "real" looking, but if you inspect closely, they say, "For Motion Picture Use Only."
They've been spotted at businesses in Burton, a bank in Swartz Creek, and was initially reported by somebody who was selling something on Craigslist. Please be on the lookout!
The bills are legal to possess, but obviously not legal to USE. If you have any questions or spot one of these counterfeit bills, call the Burton PD at 810-742-2542.
