ELGA Credit Union Collecting Funds to Support Local Officers Shot
On Tuesday, December 21, our community was shaken by the shooting of two local police officers. With both officers recovering, and Christmas just a few days away, ELGA Credit Union has launched a way for the community to support these local heroes. While officers were investigating a shooting in the area of Saginaw and Bristol roads in Burton. Thankfully both survived, but there is a long road to recovery ahead for both.
To show their support, The ELGA Credit Union Foundation for Impact has established the Christie and Fachting Hero Fund to support two brave heroes that were injured while protecting our local community. All funds collected will directly support the injured officers and their families during the holiday season, offsetting medical expenses and lost wages for both these local heroes.
“ELGA Credit Union is honored to serve these wounded heroes by establishing the Christie and Fachting Hero Fund", said Karen Church, ELGA Credit Union CEO in a press release to Cars 108. “It is my hope that our community will join the credit union and wrap these officers and their families in love this holiday season, by donating at any ELGA branch, through our website or by text.”
If you would like to help support these heroes behind the badge, you can make your donations at any ELGA Credit Union branch, online at www.elgacu.com, or by texting “ELGA” to 41444.
As both officers are working to recovery another fundraiser has been planned for New Years Day in Swartz Creek. The event is being held at Swartz Creek American Legion Post 294 starting at 5 pm. Tickets will be $10 and there will be raffles and other prizes with all proceeds going to both Deputy Fachting and Officer Christie. You can get more information here.
