They started lining up as early as 8:00am as if it was a concert featuring owner Donnie Wahlberg and his band New Kids On the Block (who just happen to be in Detroit tomorrow evening). The long awaited Grand Opening of Wahlburgers welcomed the hungry and the curious to see what the fuss was all about and maybe catch a glimpse of one of those famous brothers from Boston. Sorry fans not today on the brothers, but a definite yes to the great food.

Founded by brothers Paul,  the Executive Chef, along with Mark and Donnie Wahlberg the chain has expanded to 30 locations across the country including  the U.K. The family personalities show in the menu selections such as Thanksgiving Day described as Thanksgiving leftovers on a bun a Donnie fav, or the signature burger simply called Our Burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, Paul's signature Wahl sauce, pickles and government cheese....yes really. The menu offers other selections to diners other than their drool worthy burgers such as salads, desserts, and a full bar.

We were there as the doors opened and ate about 30 minutes later and the food and service was fantastic for being right out of the gate on a first day. Friendly staff and wonderful vibe in a packed house. The new restaurant will employee about 80 workers and is located at Genesee Valley Mall on Miller Rd. near Mo Pete's and Bar Louie's. Wahlburgers is definitely on tap to be a local hit for the area. Currently open Sunday- Thursday 11-11pm and Friday and Saturdays 11-12am, be sure to stop by for little bit the Dorchester, Massachusetts love.
