Wahlberg Brothers Make Flint’s Pink Night Palooza Huge Success
Back in 2016 Financial Plus Credit Union’s Pink Night fundraiser joined forces with the Hurley Medical Center's Pink Palooza fundraiser to create one of the most important nights of the year with the first Pink Night Palooza. This stellar collaboration helps raise much needed funds to benefit Hurley's Breast Cancer Patient Navigation Program. This year the big event had a little help from two very famous brothers.
Each year the event has a bra artistry segment in which beautifully creative designed bras are auctioned off. The highlighted segment introduced a celebrity factor last year with a corset autographed by local rocker Kid Rock. The item sold for a record $5500, the highest selling price ever for the event setting the bar pretty high for this years show.
When actor/singer Mark Wahlberg and his chef brother Paul were in town earlier this year for the grand opening of their Flint location, they were asked to sign a very special boustiere for a very important cause. Without hesitation the brothers autographed the lingerie for Hurley and the creative process began.
I was honored to be asked to model the "Wahlberg Burlesque" designed by Hurley's own Patty Creighton at this years event. Mark himself added some extra celebrity spice to the night with a special video message for the sold out event. Speaking from his movie set in Germany, Wahlberg said, “Thank-you everybody at Hurley Hospital, I love you guys. Let’s go guys. This is an amazing cause, an amazing evening.”
With the incredible generosity and love, the boutiere sold for $12,500 setting a new record and adding to the incredible success of the night. Ten other bras were auctioned off along with other great prizes with every penny from the event going to help local women and men during their courageous fight against cancer.
Hurley’s program identifies gaps within their patient’s care and assists with financial hardships they may encounter including house payments, auto payments, purchasing a wig, groceries and much more. The Breast Navigation program helps to directly relieve financial burdens so patients can concentrate on treatment, wellness, and beating their cancer diagnosis.
