Viral Meningitis Reported At Davison School
Davison Community Schools reported a case of Viral Meningitis on September 28th at Hahn Intermediate School. No other information has been posted on the school's website at this time.
Viral Meningitis is the swelling of the tissue surrounding the brain and spinal cord. While there are many types of meningitis, viral is the most common. It is spread by direct contact with respiratory secretions (sneezing, coughing, ect). The symptoms usually begin 3-7 days after exposure to the illness.
Symptoms of viral meningitis include fever, severe headache, stiff neck, drowsiness or confusion. Most people who contract viral meningitis get better on their own. If you have a student in Hahn Intermediate make sure they wash their hands regularly.
