Two major restaurant chains, both represented in the Flint area, have updated their policies regarding weapons in their establishments. Both Sonic and Chili's are asking customers to leave their guns at home.

The move comes after these videos of Texas gun enthusiasts attempting to bring guns into the restaurants went viral. The men in the video were asked to leave, despite the lack of formal gun policies at both restaurants.

According to The Blaze, Sonic made an official announcement on Friday. (5/30)

“We’re asking that customers refrain from bringing guns onto our patios or into our indoor dining areas."

The statement issued by Chili's seems to indicate that lawfully-concealed weapons will still be allowed at its restaurants.

“We kindly ask that guests refrain from openly carrying firearms into our restaurants and we will continue to follow state and local laws on this issue.”
