T'Shonti Spencer graduated in 2021 at the age of 16, sister T'Liyah got her diploma a few months later at the age of 15. Now the youngest Spencer, Diamond is graduating at the tender age of 14.
Diamond also has the distinction of becoming the youngest graduate in Benton Harbor High School's history.
“Yeah, I’m the youngest, I’m making history for my city,” Diamond Spencer tells WNDU-TV. “I just wanted to be done with this high school stuff so nothing could hold me back.”
She tells the TV station that her older sisters T'Shonti and T'Liyah inspired her to finish high school early. The youngest Spencer graduated early because she enrolled in Benton Harbor's Career and Alternative Pathways in Education Center.
She goes on to say that she had to complete eight classes, each with somewhere between 100 and 200 assignments in order to graduate early.
“I had to work weekends, holidays, day and night, all of that,” Spencer says. "When I saw them graduate, I was like ‘I want to be just like them.’ If they can do it, I can do it too."
T'Shonti Spencer is the oldest of the three sisters and she says she is so proud of her sisters for following in her footsteps.
