There’s a ‘Sanctuary’ for Senior Pets in Maryland [VIDEO]
“I am grateful for every day with each of them. If they are waking me up at night, that means they are still with us and I rejoice in that.”
House With A Heart is a senior living facility in Maryland...for animals.
Sher Polvinale and her husband aren't new to the rescue game - they've been rescuing cats and dogs for over 20 years. She says that she was overwhelmed by the amount of phone calls from owners who wanted to give up their senior dogs; mainly, people were overwhelmed with the costs and energy it took to take care of their aging pets. So, in 2006, she founded House With A Heart.
The sanctuary has been set up in her home, and she has 55 volunteers that work 24/7. The animals have everything from incontinence and blindness to dementia.
It's a "ruff" job, but somebody's gotta do it! This woman has more patience than I could ever hope to have!
