MAC Football is back on for 2020, but with such a late start it's going to be a limited season.

The official press release from the Mid American Conference read simply, "MACtion Is Back!" The "MACtion" they're talking about is the change of heart about the 2020 football season. The MAC initially postponed the 2020 season, following suit with many of the other major conferences. When the BIG10 reversed their decision, many speculated that the MAC would not be far behind.

The announcement means that Central, Eastern, and Western Michigan will all be on the football field as early as this week. Central posted an enthusiastic message to their Twitter followers shortly after the announcement came last week.

The announcement that MAC Football is returning has most fans ecstatic, but lets all remember that this is 2020, so nothing is happening exactly the way we would like.

The MAC officials have put many safety protocols for the upcoming season, and like most sports going on  right now, having fans in the seats is not going to happen. According to the press release, who can attend the games will be very limited.

No general public attendance or tailgating will be allowed at games.  The participation of Marching Band, Dance, Cheer and Spirit Squads at football games will be guided by Conference protocols at institutional discretion consistent with public health guidance.

While most of us assumed that the MAC would follow suit with the BIG 10, it took longer than most expected. The press release did not mention any other conference decision, only that the change of course had to do with new test availability and safety precautions.

The final six game schedule has not been released yet, but the games are scheduled to start Wednesday November 4th.
